Berlin!!

I’ve been in Germany for the past 5 days. I spent the majority of it in Berlin, spent some time in Bremen and Hamburg too. Berlin is such an emotional place, history in every corner. I’d recommend you to visit and see for yourself. Here’s some iphone (shitty camera) pictures. Oh and I bumped in Quentin Tarantino standing round a campfire but I’m not a name dropper obviously.

July’s Mix

After the glorious success of the last music live mix I put up (41 people downloaded) I’ve decided to do it again. I don’t claim to be a superstar DJ, I don’t even claim to be good! But If you like working with your headphones on and like electronic music then download the mix. I’ve chucked in a classic or two just to keep it interesting.

Done on Pioneer CDJ-400’s, DJM-200 Mixer, recorded with Audacity

Two New’ish Launches

When working in a busy design agency generally it takes time for projects to go live. Some of my projects are finally seeing the light of day. I’m looking forward to some of the feedback and response to the people that will start to use them.

The Gate Lab

Its been a very long time in the process but finally the gate lab is live. The Gate Lab is the favorite piece of my portfolio.

Focal Point Talks

look its meits me in the black, click for bigger picture

Last Month I attended the focus point lecture, run by the lovely people at CIDS (creative industries development service). The lecture was presented by Alistair Sim, head poncho at our block neighbors Love creative. I can’t say I’ve attend many of these sorts of things, I’m definite a cynic but that’s just me in general. I’m like that about everything. I have always been intrigued by Love’s work, spotting bits and pieces without trying. We (flame) even offered them a game of football .So I thought I’d pop down and see what the crack was. I was interested in what Alistar had to say, how he said it and just generally what these kind of “networking” events are like.

Conclusion

Interesting stories about stealing clients and 24 hour pitches can be entertaining

Whilst the lecture was very self promotional (the reason to do it), at times it was really really fun. So much so that I’m off again tonight to the next one. It was very laid back, almost like your mate telling you funny stories in the pub. Towards the end it got quite tiresome when the slideshow became a revolving advertisement for Love and I think that’s when my attention was lost. I think it was a achievement to keep me interested for 40/45 minutes on the whole though. Interesting stories about stealing clients and 24 hour pitches can be entertaining. With regards to the whole “networking” thing, its not really for me. Well, not unless I’m above the 3 pint threshold. I find it all a bit plastic. I’m quite a dry person, a cynic but a funny story and a sense of humor goes along way with me.

I’ll try to take a few notes down tonight when I go and talk a little more in depth next time. Tonight’s focal point lecture is with Tony Foggett, MD of Code Computerlove

update - thanks for the bigger picture Patrick
